Getting Consent Before You Post a Prank Video

If a prank video features someone other than you, getting their okay before posting it publicly is the single most important step. It is also the easiest one to skip.

Private chat is different from a public post

Sending a joke video to one friend is low stakes. Posting it to a public account, where strangers and their contacts will see it, is not. Treat those differently.

How to ask

Show them the clip and say where you want to post it. "Can I put this on my story?" takes five seconds and avoids a much longer conversation later.

If they say no

Keep it in the group chat. A prank that only works if you post it against someone's wishes is not worth the fallout.

Fake the bob before you commit to it
